honestly I'm missing the old good days before Covid, we had freedom to travel and to develop business around the world.

But since 2020 my business has been heavily hurted by outbreak, lockdowns and no possibilities to travel.
My turnover went down by 50%.

Now in 2022 business is slightly better about Covid but I've been facing a number of others problem such as :
1. the huge increase of sea freight rates, especially from China to SA. As a result all my customers in SA they halted to import from China (India and Brasil too) and they have been currently mostly buying tiles made in South Africa.
2. The local currency, the ZAR, is getting weaker against the Us$ and Euro so now it's more expensive to import any kind of product.
3. Since mid 2021 in Italy we have been facing huge increase in raw materials (+80%), methan gas (+450% !!!) and power (+150%). As a result the price of italian tiles gone up, on average, by 30%. Many markets in the world like SA they reject such increases and instead to buy italian made tiles they've started to buy local made tiles.
4. Since the war between Russia/Ukraine we (the italian tile companies) are no longer able to import clay from Donbass (Ukraine). That clay was the best quality and cheaper. Now we have to import the clay from Turkey but it is more expensive and lower quality thus we are encountering issues in quality and higher production costs...
5. A number of italian tiles companies are currently producing less sqm/day so we might achieve up to 3 months waiting time for delivery......many customers are not accepting such lond lead time and they cancel the order.
6. There is another problem. Given that to produce porcelain tiles it's needed al lot of gas (energy intensive plants) there is a possibility our Italian government will shut down the italian tiles companies on next Fall in order to save gas for use it in homes when is gonna get cold in Winter..

So not a wonderful picture as you've been noted...
